{September 2, 2012}   Mommie Dearest

Christina Crawford was the first daughter of an abusive mother to write publicly about her experiences of child abuse.  In her book, Mommie Dearest, Christina recounts the nightmare of being a child at the mercy of a mother who displayed a false persona of normality in public while abusing her daughter in private. I owe a great deal to Christina for her courage and honesty in telling her story.  By bringing the dark secrets about her childhood experiences into the light so that it could be examined, she paved the way for others to tell their stories about abusive parents.

This is an interview Christina Crawford did with Phil Donahue in 1978:

Kate says:

It’s a blessing Lynn that you have broken the cycle of abuse in your family…that you are such an awesome Mom!
